The lost art of Sanding & Finishing
Sanding & Finishing is a lost art, as most homes now feature engineered hardwood products. Engineered hardwood is extremely popular due to its convenience, and these floors generally have a lifespan of 10-15 years. Cost-wise engineered hardwood used to be more affordable, but nowadays a quality engineered hardwood floor will cost similar to an original hardwood.
If you are fortunate to have an original hardwood floor you have a truly outstanding product that will last you a lifetime.
The primary benefits of an original hardwood floor is durability & repairability. Depending on your wood type, an original hardwood floor finish can last you anywhere from 10 – 20 years. Once the finish begins to lose its shine due to wear & tear, you can then sand & re-finish the floor another 4-7 times. Each time breathing new life into the floor. This is why an Original Hardwood Floor can last upwards of 125 years in some cases. Furthermore, in many cases water damage and other issues can be repaired.
